  • Adopt reasonable pension reforms to stop growing pension debt
  Job Creation
The Partnership will continue to attract and retain jobs by aggressively marketing the San Gabriel Valley as a business-friendly region that is convenient to transportation, housing, and schools. In order to maintain a business friendly region the Partnership.
Supports:
  • Public policies that assist with business retention and private investment
  • Projects and legislation that foster job creation and economic growth
  • Take steps to bring in and retain manufacturing and film jobs

Opposes:

  • Legislation and policies that will create a competitive disadvantage for businesses, especially those in the San Gabriel Valley
Water
Water is essential to California’s economy and future. Businesses depend on a reliable, clean water supply. The state of California is facing historic water supply challenges that require examination of all available options to meet the state’s water supply needs. Businesses of the entire state benefit from the Colorado River and Sacramento San Joaquin water supply and if this supply continues to be threatened our businesses also are threatened. The Partnership
Supports:
  • Efforts that ensure an adequate and reliable supply of quality water in the San Gabriel Valley
  • Funding for improving and maintaining the Valley’s local water supply and distribution systems
  • Efforts to resolve the Federal Colorado River and Sacramento San Joaquin’s water issues that fairly distribute cost and supply to northern and southern interest
  • Passage of the Clean Reliable Water Bond
  Education
A well-trained workforce is critical if the San Gabriel Valley is to be competitive in the new global economy. An educated workforce is vital to businesses of the Valley. The Partnership
Supports:
  • Policies that assist in producing a workforce prepared for the changing business climate
  • Education system reforms that would make school more effective and increase student scores and graduation rates
  • Solutions that attempt to close the education skills gap based on research and best practices.

  • Policies that support local economic development
  • Creation of Enterprise Zones

  Transportation & Goods Movement
The ability to effectively move people, good and service to and through the SGV is the key component of the valley’s economic vitality. The SGV has an excellent system of roads and transit but unless these systems are maintained and enhanced, the ability to attract and grow businesses will be impacted and the economy and quality of life will deteriorate. The San Gabriel Valley provides the nations “on ramp” and “off ramp” for goods movement of the Pacific Rim. The Partnership

  • Funding and timely completion of major regional projects:
    • Alameda Corridor-East
    • I-10 Freeway interchange upgrades
