Business Assistance Services

The San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership’s Business Assistance Program provides free, individualized support to businesses located in or relocating to the San Gabriel Valley in order to facilitate their success. The Partnership acts a confidential liaison between business, local government, educational institutions, and public agencies to facilitate the coordination of programs and resources and assist with a variety of challenges, including:

  • Problem-solving between businesses and government agencies
  • Leveraging incentives, programs, and resources throughout Los Angeles County
  • Identifying job training resources or qualified staff
  • Obtaining permits and licensing
  • Accessing public financing programs (local, state, federal) including industrial development bonds
  • Site selection
  • Obtaining labor market, economic, and demographic information, taxes and fee abatements
  • Identifying incentive zones (Enterprise, Revitalization, Empowerment, Foreign Trade and Redevelopment)
  • Identifying utility and transportation services

Data and Research

The Partnership commissions economic, demographic and statistical reports to help business leaders with decision making, understanding opportunities for investment, business expansion, and job creation. The Partnership maintains an extensive library of economic resources for the public.

Business Walk Program

Through the Business Walk Program, the Partnership has taken the initiative to find solutions to issues that face businesses in San Gabriel Valley. During a business walk, a team of city and county staff and officials, chambers of commerce, legislators, and others visit locations of businesses to meet with business owners, have candid discussions, and develop solutions to resolve issues using the resources present in the room.

Education Pathways Program

The Partnership focuses on the development and implementation of educational programs that prepare students for employment in growing job sectors in the San Gabriel Valley. The Partnership works with Pasadena City College (PCC) through the AMETLL Grant (Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technology and Linked Learning) to arrange business speakers for the classroom, business site visits for both students and teachers, and internships/job shadowing for college and high school students with the goal of providing students with real life work experience and using industry feedback to better align classroom curriculum with industry needs.
